You really need to micro-manage each building and staff member to succeed at this game. Obviously being on a foreign planet adds that element of disaster being just a food, power or water shortage away. It helps if you have an equal set of multidomes dedicated to either benches/chairs/plants for. Connected to it is the storage for excess starch and vegetables, the canteen for easy meal maker access, the bar for easy drinks access, and the multidome for easy water/recreation. The Homeworld series has a long legacy and is regarded by many as one of the best strategy series of all time.The best layout I have found is using the biodome as a central hub.
Signposts and Monoliths add to the amount of prestige you have. Seems like the cap for colonists is 500, i tried to stress test my base to see how much it can hold, but after their numbers went above 500, colonist ships stopped coming in, the screenshot shows 502 because i had Prestige marks how admired and well know your base is.
